THE HAGUE, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) — The Dutch government announced a 94.5 million euro (105 million U.S. dollars) aid package on Monday to help Ukraine secure its energy supply for the upcoming winter.
The announcement coincided with Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof’s first official visit to Ukraine, where he met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The aid package was outlined in a letter to parliament by Dutch Minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation Reinette Klever. It includes the provision of second-hand gas turbines, repair parts, and energy sector components and materials, all aimed at restoring and strengthening Ukraine’s energy grid.
Since 2022, the Netherlands has provided about 220 million euros to support the recovery of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, according to official Dutch data. (1 euro = 1.11 U.S. dollars) ■
